News from the Jazz-Rock Supergroup

For over 30 years, musician and producer Leslie Mandoki has been regularly gathering friends and renowned artists from jazz and rock to merge both genres together as the ManDoki Soulmates. Once again, the impressive supergroup has succeeded outstandingly on their new album, "A Memory Of Our Future."

The 80-minute concept album features prominent names such as Ian Anderson, Al di Meola, Randy Brecker, Till Brönner, and Bill Evans among the illustrious group of contributing musicians. The songs on the album call for action against societal division and for greater humanity in everyday interactions. They advocate for more life in the real world rather than the digital one. Around these themes, the Soulmates have created a work of musical diversity that ranges from prog to jazz-rock, blending compositional maturity, playful ease, and artistic solos with great tension arcs and profound lyrics addressing socio-political issues.

However, "A Memory Of Our Future" not only sets new musical standards but also stands as a production-technical masterpiece. The entire album was recorded and produced analog – from the first note to the finished vinyl. The recordings and analog mix took place in Leslie Mandoki's Red Rock Studios near Munich. The analog tape mastering by Greg Calbi (known for his work with John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen) at the renowned Sterling Sound Studio in New York and the vinyl cutting at Emil Berliner Studios further enhanced the production.

With this setup, the ManDoki Soulmates were able to capture a warmth and vitality in their music that is often lost in digital recordings. Thus, "A Memory Of Our Future" becomes a fascinating fusion of audiophile and musical excellence.
